On the weekend we went on a long walk to enjoy the sun and warm weather. As we do often we started in the Civic Garden Complex. I of course brought my camera. There's still less blooming than I expected but the stuff that is out is delightful as always. These first few pictures are from the gardens. I'm sure most people are getting sick of spring flowers at this point, but I'm not so enjoy! :) Does anyone know the name of the daisy-like one?
The next few are from the forested green space around the gardens. The plant are indigenous to South-Western Ontario. Excluding of course the naturalized daffodils.
If you'd like to know the names just click on the pictures and you can find them in the address. The one with the white flower is blood root. If you pull it out and break off the rhizome it oozes a red, blood-like sap. I thought about taking a picture but felt bad. My first of five exams is tomorrow so my posts might be a little reduced over the next few days. That or there will be more because I need a distraction. We'll just have to wait and see...

Spring Walk II
I don't have much to say today, so enjoy these photos from my shutter-happy walk yesterday. They were taken along the Thames River near Springbank Park. Both London, Ontario and the Thames River are named after their counterparts in the UK. It reached 24C (75F) today!

Spring Walk
It's 22C today so we decided to go for a walk in and around the Municipal Gardens. The bulbs are finally out and look great. I think my favourites are the Iris reticulata. I just love the deep purple contrast with the yellow and white. Yeah, spring!! I've seen some daffodils but no tulips are out yet. Just a bit longer...
I also planted some Castor seeds today. They've been soaking for two days and I just threw them all in a pot together. I'll leave them outside because the lows for the next few days are around 10C and the highs over 20C. Then I can just bring them in when temperature inevitable approach seasonal again. I only planted 20 and still have another 40 soaking. Sometimes I like to be overly cautious.
