Calling of an Engineer

Today I will be participating in a ceremony called the Calling of an Engineer.  I'm kind of excited but have heard that sometimes the ceremony can be a little cultish and alienating.  Today all fourth year students will be receiving an iron ring to wear on the small finger of their working hand.  This is a reminder of our ethical duties, "to serve and protect".  Afterward I'll be going out for lunch with my mom, brother and Jame.  I'll let you know how it goes!

  5. There are certain times in your life when you get to participate in such ceremonial events, which is why they are special. Also, you need a reminder sometimes of how much work you've accomplished! Congrats. You'll have to take a photo of the ring!
