Followers

Although I don't want it to be true, I find my number of blog followers affect my mood for the day.  I check every morning and if there is someone new I'm in a good mood all day.  If someone disappears, I take is as a personal failure on my part just let it go.  Today is one of those days I lost a follower.  That person will always be remembered.  Now for a moment of silence to contemplate my failings.  We'll just have to contemplate my extreme shortcomings and desperately hope that I don't loose another follower tomorrow because a double whammy like that would be completely unbearable and go on and focus on the future.  I'm tired and a little bit insane which seems to happen increasingly regularly.

  1. I lost one today too! They must have been following hidden (which pisses me off anyway). So, I say screw'em.

  3. Your post made me laugh. When followers get you down just have a stiff drink ;-)

  4. Hey, I hope I can brighten your day a little. I just signed up as a follower. Actually, I thought I was already a follower but apparently not. To be honest, I don't use that feature. I just use the blogroll (which you've been on for a long time now) to catch the latest blog posts of my favorite blogs. Keep up the good work!

  5. Thanks TheGaudyGarden, Julie, Dan, and Phillip! I know a lot of people follow just not with google friend connect. Somedays I'm just a little more Mimosa mood (hahaha).

I have/had three tests this week, 2 assignments, 1 large project, and a Final Design Presentation on Friday! It is these times that loosing a blog follower is apparently unbearable.

Thanks for the support and a special thanks to Phillip for bringing it back up to 38! W00t!

  6. Hahaha...that's sorta crazy talk...and really funny. I try to tell myself that I don't care that another blog has more followers than I do but secretly, I hate it. LOL! I guess all of us need a bit of validation.

I hope your exams went well!

  7. Thanks! As long as it's just sorta crazy then I'm fine. I hope my exams go/went well too. I won't know until probably two weeks from now.

  8. Well just think - your followers are probably just a small fraction of the total of number of people who regularly read your blog

  9. This is funny.

I don't mind so much when I lose one or two of the followers in that gadget but in the beginning I was always checking to see if anyone new had joined.

Don't take it personally though when you lose a follower because it could be for a thousand reasons and none of them could be related to you.

  10. What Mr. Brown Thumb said. Also, I'd rather have regular commenters than followers. Then it's a true interaction, a building of a community, not just people who peek into your window while you're doing stuff in your living room, y'know?

  11. But sometimes it's nice to have someone peak in the living... I'm fine now. It's nice to see that a lot of people can relate. I know I shouldn't take it personally, but this is one of those few thinks that I'm a little irrational about. Again, thanks for the support! All I have left this week is the final design project report, CAD drawings, and presentation. Then a week off!!

  12. Better to have a few dozen followers who leave comments than to have hundreds of followers, who rarely comment! I ought to know! I have a lot of followers, but I honestly don't think they all read my blog or I would get more comments. I noticed that if someone stops following, then I may not notice for a long time, because somebody else has replaced them. Hang in there and keep on blogging!
