I stumbled upon this tree and thought is was worth a share. It is called the rainbow eucalyptus (Eucalyptus deglupta). To take a look click here. Very interesting. If anyone can make a hardier version I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
@princeofpalms, I've subscribed. How old do the trees have to be before they display colour on the trunk? Is it possible to make a bonsai that has colouration?
Yeah they are amazing. I think I saw them at Fairchild Botanical Garden in Miami. Or somewhere in Florida. I love interesting bark.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen so much diversity in the bark colouration of the same tree. What a great species!
ReplyDeleteI also saw this species at Fairchild Tropical Gardens in 2009. Amazing bark. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, that IS a pretty tree!
ReplyDeleteI was wonderfully surprised. I think I need to visit some tropical gardens!
