Mochi & Unknown Insect

Here are two more pictures of Mochi from today!

Also does anyone happen to know what insect this is? Any help in IDing it would be much appreciated. It has six legs but the back two are against it's body. The protrusions on the sides are definitely wings but I haven't seen it fly yet. It's fun looking whatever it is!

  1. LOL It's too fun to kill so I ended up putting it outside. It was in the house for five days. Kind of like a pet. But then we got Mochi and the insect had to go. BTW, I'm assuming you are talking about the insect. ;)

  2. I've found those in my apt. before, like receiving a present from Edward Gorey (cool-in-a-strange way, yet slightly unnerving.) Somewhere I learned they're a kind of moth, now I know what to call them. At least they have a nice common name. Here's a couple of links:

  4. What a beautiful cat! Love the colours. Odd little bug eh. No clue what that could be.

  6. BTW, Mochi is a beautiful cat, and I love her expression. I'm also struck by how large her paws look, but I also like big cats.

  7. @Laura, nice colours indeed and that bug is one of the strangest I've seen.

    @Phillip, apparently it's actually a moth.

    @Thomas, her paws may look large because she's still a kitten. We'll just have to see what happens as she grows.

  8. Mochi - cute name. I like the first photo - he/she looks sleepy, and the 2nd photo is like "huh?" I love cats - they are so low maintenance, and are always clean - but my husband dislikes them, so we will never get a cat unfortunately.

  9. That's just a devil bug. It won't even hurt you.

  10. @Evelyn, it's a she, and very tired. I love the low maintenance. I've had dogs most of my life and they're just too needy.

    @Kaveh, lol Devil Bug. It won't hurt me but apparently the larva love to eat tender new leaves.
