Greenhouse Freeze

I haven't been back to the greenhouses yet but I heard some bad news.  Apparently the heat stopped working over the break throughout all of the greenhouses.  A large number of plants reached temperatures far below anything they should ever see.  Mag seemed to suggest that almost everything will recover, but it was a very close call.  I'll start uploading some more picture later in the week after my courses and work schedule are sorted out.  Hopefully the plants will have recovered to some extent by then.  I hope my plants are alright...

  2. so sorry to hear this....I lost almost everything two years ago during a six degree night with no propane, very sad. A few things lived, but badly maimed. Some plants I had had for almost thirty years...you get sentimental.Give them some time to see if there is any hope, good luck! B

  3. That's really too bad. I think I'd be devastated if I lost something I'd had for 30 years! I'm freaking out and the oldest plant I have in there now is only about two years...

  5. Have been through that too, with just an 8x8 ft hobby greenhouse...Hope for the best! Some plants may surprise you. I'm sure non-plant-people think we're crazy, but it really is a devasting experience to lose plants we appreciate and (dare I say it...) love!

  6. Very true. I have some young Baobab seedlings that I'm especially worried about.
