Golden Chain Tree (Laburnum watereri) (140 Days)

Here's an update on the Golden Chain Trees I started.  Three of them sprouted several months ago and another two or three have just sprouted in the last few weeks (they're hidden by the older ones).  I'll probably have to transplant them in early January.

  1. I have a question, I purchase a golden chain tree and have had the tree for 2 years, but it is still very small, and it is just a single stick with leaves, it is about 12 inches long is that normal. p.s my email is yazminprietopascual@yahoo.com

  2. I don't think this is normal. The growth rate should be moderate to high. The largest one I have now is about 9 months old and nearly 3ft tall! The three biggest reasons for reduced growth may be:

    (1) Not getting direct sunlight for a few hours
    (2) Drying out
    (3) High temperatures (70s during the summer are best)

There is also another tree called the Golden Rain Tree (not Chain). They're sometimes confused so I thought it was worth bringing up. I hope that helps!
