It's dropped from reasonable temperatures to below seasonal average. It's currently -9C but the windchill is -18C. At least this orchid is flowering! My first exam went well. Only 4 more to go (another 13 hours of exam time).
It's freezing here in Brantford, On as well, the wind is nasty. I have quite a few Phalaenopsis, some quite old some newer. None have flowered in at least a year, I think I need to give them more attention. Any ideas to get them blooming? Good luck with your exams!
I'm not entirely sure. There has been a slight drop in temperatures inside the greenhouses. There is also generally a thick sunshade over the orchids during the summer. That has been removed so it's possible they are actually receiving a little bit more light now.
I was also wondering whether or not the change in day length had any effect. I think this and the slight temperature drop are most likely because it seems like everything in the greenhouse has started to bloom. There has been no change in the fertilizer regiment.
